He is a Physical Education teacher and trainer who designs programs to help athletes perform better, including his own AAU basketball program and training. He began his basketball coaching career in Southern California where he created, coached and taught youth basketball and sports programs in Calabasas, Agoura Hills, and Westlake Village.

He helped launch Liberty High School and coached at Valley Vista High School, both in Arizona, leading teams to multiple playoffs. Coach Jones also helped build a strength and agility program for the Valley Vista girls basketball program, the current state champions and the player of the year.

Varsity Assistant Coach

Greg Gensichen

Varsity Assistant Coach

Greg and his wife, LeeAnn, have been married for 35 years. Both of their daughters played basketball at Capistrano Valley High School. Coach Greg knows that coaches can have a positive impact on lives. His high school freshmen basketball coach, who was also his Electronics class teacher, had a strong influence on him pursuing a BSEET degree.  This life direction has served him well for 37 years in Computer Engineering. This opportunity to help young people make positive life decisions has encouraged Greg to coach over the years, first coaching elementary age boys at the YMCA while in college, then coaching his daughters’ teams in youth and NJB basketball, and most recently entering his third year as an assistant coach at CVHS.

Coach Greg hopes that as a result of their participation in the CVHS Girls Basketball team the girls will embrace these life principles shared by legendary Coach John Wooden:

"Goals achieved with little effort are seldom worthwhile or lasting";

"I will get ready and then, perhaps, my chance will come"; and

"If I am through learning, I am through".

Varsity Assistant Coach

Haig Musurlian

Varsity Assistant Coach

This will be Haig’s first year at as an assistant coach for the Girls’ Varsity and he is looking forward to helping each girl improve not only their basketball skills, but also to further enhance their character. Team sports are a great way for athletes to learn how to work together cohesively, in order to reach a common goal.

Haig has coached teams from the NJB level thru the junior high and Club levels and is excited about the opportunity to coach at the High School level. His emphasis will be on the defensive side of the ball.

Haig enjoys seeing people grow and progress, as he works as a psychologist in private practice In Laguna Hills. One of his subspecialties is Sports Psychology, in which he works with athletes from high school to the pros. One of the primary goals in sports psychology is to help athletes reach the “zone” more often. Specifically this means helping the athlete operate at their peak level of performance, thru the removal of negative thoughts.

Haig has been married to Helen for the past 17 years and has two children, both of whom attend Capo High; Arin a junior baseball player and Kayla a basketball player and jiu-jitsu Orange belt. Some of his favorite quotes from the basketball world (see below) are what he hopes the girls will aspire to.

“If you’re not making mistakes, then you’re not doing anything.” (John Wooden)
“Hard work beats talent, when talent fails to work hard.” (Kevin Durant)
“There’s only one ball and I want it.” (Moses Malone on rebounding)
Dalante Dunklin

Varsity Assistant Coach

Coach Dunklin played at UCSB and started as a freshman. After his freshman season, he transferred to Saddleback Community College, where he led the team in assists and steals, along with being selected as first team all-conference. After Saddleback, Dunklin finished his career at San Diego Christian College. He led the team in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals and was nominated as an NAIA All American. After college, Dunklin went to play two seasons professionally overseas in Italy, Germany, and Mexico.
