Capistrano Valley lost its top runner from recent seasons, Haley Herberg, who is now running for the University of Oklahoma, but the Cougars have a talented group of runners ready to step up.

Two of those are Carley Corsinita, who won the Division 2 girls juniors race in 17:39.6, and Hailey Kroger who finished fourth in 18:22.2.

Corsinita finished 15 seconds ahead of Amy Brown of Ramona of San Diego.

“She was my biggest inspiration,” Corsinita said of Herberg. “Not only was she an excellent runner, but she knew how to lead and help other people become better.”
